Selket’s passion for photography stems from her love of nature and exploration. Living abroad as a child exposed her to new cultures and traditions that embedded her quest for travel. Capturing moments through a lens was something taught to her at an early age by her mother, whom always inspired and encouraged her to seek things in a new light. Her formal education was focused on marine biology and environmental science, but her fate eventually led her to North Carolina, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

At UNC, she discovered a new facet of storytelling through the power of multimedia. Fortunate to have the friends and mentors, who inspired and supported her throughout, she continues to seek powerful stories to inspire others. Self-motivated, enthusiastic and determined to face the odds she is committed to capture and preserve the beauty, injustice and triumphs of this world in hopes to spark spiritual awareness and advancement.
Selket has produced award-wining multimedia projects as a photographer, videographer, audio journalist and Spanish translator. From illegal immigrants destined to return back to their native lands, to preserving archeological sites in Northern Peru, to a unique bond between a Mahout and his elephant in Thailand, Selket’s love for discovery sustains her journey of life.
